accounts never updated

I have several old accounts that went into collection (some not with CA's though) a few years ago and that I paid off fully and closed at the time. After paying them off, they never updated the TL's, and they still show as open collections.
Which approach would be best here for a deletion? I'd like to leverage the fact that the CRA's/OC's/CA's have been reporting signigficantly innaccurate and derog data for the past 2+ years.
"not mine" is a stab in the dark which could trigger the OC/CA's to update the TL (happened to me in before in the past, not what I was looking for). it's worked for me well before, but I'm wondering if this situation would be better served with a different strategy.
I'm thinking of a few scenerios:
    1) dispute with CRA based on incorrect data, but this time specificly say delete because of it (maybe in the past I merely said to verify and left this out, dont' recall)
    2)estoppel to the CA's (OC's as well?)
    3)???
    thanks for any feedback
    Jason

I would suggest you mailing your release letter showing that you paid the full balance to the cra's. If you still have them they should be more than enough to get your accounts updated

thanks.. but I'm shooting for a delete, not the update. I'm actually tryign to avoid the update, as then I'll just have to turnaround and fight again to get the delete or the late pays removed.
I'm thinking the fact that they're so off the mark with the reporting for the past 2 years that I may have more leverage for a delete then I would if it were merely updated to reflect current status. It seems to me like that this "over site" on their part was a deliberate act to keep my credit trashed. I know off hand that one of them (Household) managed to report for 24 months straight, right up until the very month i sent them a nasty letter and closed the aco****! arrrg

I actually have household on something big already - they ignored the conditional contract printed on the check (which I still have). But I still have the same problem with a few other old collection accounts
