Acct # changed suddenly. WTH.

I had a paid charge-off from FCNB showing on all 3 reports. Fortunately, it contained many inaccuracies (including duplicate reporting on Experian). I disputed with the bureaus, then disputed with the bureaus again while simultaneously disputing with FCNB. FCNB verified all the inaccurate info multiple times and failed to report my creditor dispute. I called a supervisor and pointed out their violations. This, I suppose, pissed off the supervisor because she hung up on me.

The next day I learned she had deleted the account from two of my three reports. Great news!

But here's the weird part: the account still shows on Equifax, but the account number is different and the DLA has been pushed back about six months.

Why would she change the account #?

Any way to take advantage of an incorrect account # to get deletion?

Sure! "I have never had any account with this number xxxxxxx with FCNB."

It's also illegal to report anything OTHER than the actual dla, even if it is 6 months prior.
