Has anyone ever had any dealings with American Credit Educators? They are continually reporting "120 days late" on my husbands CR since 1998! This one account is keeping us from owning a home! Thanks for any help or onfo offered!
This account is reporting he was 120 days late in 1998 or do you mean they continue to report him currently 120 days past due?? IS there a balance??
They continue to report 120 days late from 1998 to the present...almonst EVERY month they report it. They say there is a balance of $300. The phone number Equifax provided for them is disconnected as well :/. He says he closed the account and has no recollection of owing them money. Research on the internet for them isn't very helpful...lots of Scam alerts, law suits, BBB complaints, etc.
Please let me know what you do about this because i am having the same problem and I really dont know what to do. Thanks Casper72
I have an account with them. Actually the account is with Household Bank now. ACE was bought out around 1/2000 by HHB. I still have the old card, the number on the back is (800) 221-8472 and there is a number for lost/stolen cards (800)325-3678 Here is the number to HHB (800) 366-7817 Maybe you can get some where with one of them?
We finally found a number for them by going to the BBB. They are now going by the name of American Fair Credit Association, Inc. My husband called them and what happened to him is what I read about on the scam alerts. They give you an "unsecured" card, and send you a "Credit repair kit" or something. They then CHARGE you $300 for the kit. He never received the card and totally forgot about it. The lady he spoke to said: 1. Settle for half, negs remain. 2. Pay in full, negs removed 3. Return the kit, negs removed Now, from complaints I read, about 70% of people never received the kit, however we did, and I found it, unopened. It has been sitting around since 1999. We packed it up and sent overnight FedEx today with their word and a fax on a letterhead restating the terms of receipt of this useless kit...which ironically I found for sale on Amazon.com for $25.00. So even if we didn't find it, we could have bought it and returned it. Tee-hee. I almost threw this kit away several times and reconsidered. Thank goodness!
I was wondering if I could return the kit that I got and get this off of my credit reports? I did recieve the card and used it until I realized that the charge was for this stupid kit that I recieved after starting to pay the bill. Then after I realized I paid $300 for this stupid kit I quit using the card and quit paying the bill which was dumb on my part. I was wondering if anyone could help me with a way to return this kit and have this bill removed from my report. Casper72
We just called them up at first to see if they could find the account....never mentioning we remembered it. When they found all the information and verified it, we asked what we could do to get the information changed...my hubby told them he never got the card to his knowledge. They actually offered the choices to us. I'd ask if they would take off the negs for return of the kit or paid in full. The rep we spoke with was quick with these resolutions. It's my guess they are getting quite a few of these calls, not to mention a few law suits. Their number is (800) 858-5556
Honestly, I'm not sure what they did. My husband was calling them today before shipping the kit back to them. I told him to get a fax or have someone sign something. I haven't heard from him yet, though.
