Had a TU old address deleted today. though since this appears a split file thats the only old address that shows up. TU says no split file they are aware of. I just dont think they looked well enough. Equifax only seems to have 2 old addresses for me. Experian however has my addresses back for 15 years and one or two more I never lived at! When calling or writing Experian is it wise to give them a dizen addresses saying Ive never lived there or more prudent to list a third of those and write or call with the others a couple weeks later? How many old addresses have some of you been able to delete from a single report??
Just a suggestion - instead of listing the old ones that you haven't lived at, why don't you approach that I do not recognize any of these old addresses? Or, if there are some you think should remain for some reason, then the only addresses I recognize are xxxx?
I had 13 old addresses on Experian. I first disputed the 8 oldest ones in a single letter, along with other personal info that was obviously incorrect such as wrong names, drivers license, telephone numbers, employers, and SSN variations. My rationale was that they HAD to delete the addresses because I was also disputing in the same letter other personal information that was obviously incorrect. They deleted everything I requested 7 days after receiving the letter. In my second letter I disputed 3 more addresses that were in different states than where I currently live, along with my spouse's first name. They deleted everything I requested 5 days after receiving the letter. If you have a dozen addresses, you might try disputing 6-8 by saying "These addresses are incorrect; please remove them from my file." It might help to also dispute other erroneous personal info in the same letter, as that adds validity to your dispute and makes it harder to label as being frivolous. They don't seem to care too much about the personal info and should delete within a week. Then send another letter disputing the rest of the addresses you want removed.
