On my various credit reports, they list all the addresses I have ever had, including home and work, along with a few addresses I have never used. In addition, they list PO Boxes. As far as I know, I have never lived in a PO Box (I weigh 250 and have trouble fitting into the smaller boxes). How much does this affect my score, if at all? It makes it look like I move around a lot, but in truth, I am pretty stable. What is the best way to deal with this and to get some of the addresses removed? I have used PO Boxes for business mail, but not for credit purposes. My business addresses are just that - business, not home addresses. I'm not sure why they show up. Just to show you how accurate they are, the PO Box shows up as a multi family residence. In the past, when I had disputed some addresses as not mine (which truly are not mine), they come back verified, with the CRA reasoning that I must be using multiple addresses.
I have simply called the CRA and went down the list of all addresses that were "not mine", and cleaned up my report....they deleted them as I was giving it to them, then they sent me an updated report! It does not affect your score, however, if your applying for a mortgage they lookat all your previous addresses (i guess to assess stability!)
Just exactly who are they verifying them with? I know the very first thing I did when I started was call and dispute every address except my current. EX and TU removed during the phone call, my local EQ affiliate made me send it in writing. But all three removed them all without question. Maybe send the "description of procedure" letter asking who they verified this information with. That should get them to remove or set themselves up for a lawsuit....
