I disputed my address on TU due to incorrect spelling. They took the infor. over the phone and 2 weeks later, the updated current address and previous address shows.

On Equifax, I disputed the address, both current and previous as wrong. They had me mail a copy of my DL and utility bill as proof. They updated the current but left two wrong ones as previous. How do I get them to accurately and permanently remove them.
I disputed a $39 CA as not mine and it came back verified because the address is the same as on my CR. The problem is that it isn't my address. It belonged to a rental home my parents owned and the tenants started the garbage in my name. I acted as the landlord, handling rent and repairs until they sold the house. Actually other stuff too which we found when they were evicted but none of those came back to haunt me. Just this crappy $39 bill which verifies with Equifax based on address. Equifax says they verify old addresses with creditors? Huh? It's like a vicious circle. Whats even funnier is the CA mistakenly told me the tenants had tons of collections at that address. Hello.... Is that a clue?

I haven't even started on Experian but was going to dispute those after the first of the month, but anything like Equifax and it's a pain!

    Anyone have any advice??

Don't have any advice, but I can certainly sympathize. My experience has been that if a creditor has an incorrect address, and keeps updating the listing w/ the CRA, the address will keep coming back. I have one address listed that is my actual house numbers, but my last name as the street name! I have an extremely unusual last name, so every time I call the CRA they agree right away that the address must be incorrect. But then a couple of weeks later, there it is again!

You have to contact each creditor and confirm what each one has for your address...

FLEET made me move my house to the "RETENTION POND"...

They reported that address to the CRA'S even though that address DOES NOT EXIST!!!

    LOL George,

We routinely kept living at a mailing address of our billpayer service and once at an address of a law office in Florida.

One of the CRAs also refused to report an APO|FPO address because according to them it was not a USPS address.

Anyone have any advice with correcting addresses with Experian? On the CR, it says, "As a part of our fraud-prevention program, a notice with additional information may appear". Does any know what this means ??? or what I should be looking for in my CR on this comment? I see 6 listed residences address ( different variations ), but 5 of 6 are incorrect. I understand I need to removes these if possible. Can anyone give me advice, best way to handle these corrections.

I called Experian yesterday (800-583-4080) and had all but my current address deleted and they didn't hassle me a bit. Some were old, some were variations of old, some were my parent's, one belonged to my grandparents - but they didn't question, just removed. Not to say that they won't come back... but they were all gone as of this morning.

I understand, that one of the first step to credit repair is to review all the personal information on your CR. By cleaning up a couple of old addresses, does that actuallly effect your score?

No, shouldn't have any effect on your score. But, after removing old addresses before submitting disputes, it just makes it a little harder for CRAs to verify disputed accounts if the address that the creditor has for you is no longer an address listed on your reports. Or at least that's how I've understood the reasoning behind it. I'm learning too, so anyone feel free to correct me if I'm stating this improperly.

Is it recommended or a requirement to list a previous address too?

Well, I'm still debating whether to call or write. I just hope that if I call them to remove the incorrect addresses, I hope they dont start asking other questions.

I DO NOT THINK IT IS REQUIRED to have a "PREVIOUS" address, but some CRA'S like TU (WK) require "PREVIOUS" address to access the report...

If your "PREVIOUS" address was the HOSPITAL...your correct answer would be NONE.

I've deleted ALL of my previous & incorrect addresses from EXP with a phone call - no hassle at all. I've written TU & EQ though.
