Okay -- I tried searching the board but it confuses a search for "Advanta" with the word "advantage" that is used a lot in other posts. I got a preapproval in the mail today for "The MasterCard Executive BusinessCard from Advanta" which directs me to the website www.applytoday.com to accept. It says there's a 9.9% variable APR with up to a $100,000 credit limit. I'd never heard of these folks before but from looking on their website it it looks like they just sold their consumer card portfolio to Fleet. Anyone have any feedback on these folks?
My hubby and I got this solicitation yesterday. Mine had an introductory rate and his did not. I don't know why they'd send us preapprovals for a business card - we don't have a business! Weird, huh? As far as Fleet - I dunno... my account with them is less than a month old and hubby doesn't have one with them. Ozzy.
Let me know if you decide to try for it, I'd be interested. I cannot apply for anything else until my mortgage closes, but the expiration date of this offer is right on the edge of when that's supposed to happen.
AS FAR AS I KNOW...ADVANTA sold all the non business accounts...they only do BUSINESS ACCOUNTS... I had a customer account years ago...
Biz accounts only, they have a reputation for being generous with CLs, they are prone to pulling EXP, they have good rates. Good reputation for a business card. Apply. Give us the results.
Got an invite too. Has anyone applied yet. I want to but I's soooo afraaid. Looks like they will pull Experian, and Experian is my worst report. One derogatory. Please let me know if anyone did this, or has this and your opinion. Thanks
I wasn't going to jump until someone else did. The promo for this offer was on TU for me "Avanta Business Leasing".
Advanta sold their consumer stuff to Fleet. Preapproval is not pre-approved - they pull (in MA they pull EXP). Sig. other. applied was denied (Exp = 680) too many recent accounts, too much available credit. Around the same time MBNA approved for $8k, so I think Advanta may be a little picky. -mj
I've had this card for about nine months. The 9.9 rate is not easy to get, I was told when I called to complain about the rate on my card. Advanta's rates range into the low 20s depending on credit history. Mine is at 15. The initial credit line was 12.5K with half of that available for cash. Not the greatest bargain but haven't had any problems with them. They make promotional offers from time to time. I got one for 3.9 a few months ago.
Daveberk, Did you apply online & was your approval instant or did you have to wait for a response via mail?
