Here is my story: I had a Bank of America Mastercard Charge off in 1998 for about $7500. The account was referred to Commercial Finance Corporation of Tulsa, OK for servicing, and I sent them a dispute and validation letter because their amounts they claimed I owed were wrong. They responded that they received my validation/dispute...then a few weeks later they filed for bankruptcy!! I have heard nothing from them since 1998. The collection agency never entered the chargeoff/collection account on my credit file, but Bank of America did. Hence, this charge off from Bank of America is still showing on my file and has been for over 4 years...but it is noted that "consumer disputes information." I have tried to call BoA to resolve this, but they cannot even access the account! They tell me that itr may have been sold to NCO now, but they do not know.

What do I do? This chargeoff has hurt my credit rating for over 4 years, and I have never heard back from anyone. To this date no one has contacted me, yet this still appears on my credit file. What should I do???

    Tony,
How long has it been on your credit report that it is in dispute?

I had a collection that was on my credit report that was noted in dispute.

After about 45 days, and not hearing anything from them, I wrote the CRAs and sent copies of letters I've sent to the agency requesting validation. What I said in my letter to the CRA is that they have not responded to my letters and if they had proof this debt was mine, would have proved it long ago.

TU deleted immediately. Its still on EQ but it's not factoring into my score and I have my own personal reasons why I will not pursue this yet. The jury is still out on EX, who I faxed but still have not heard from.

If you have disputed it and the CRA has verified it, you are allowed to request te information and method they used.If you HAVE tried to verify it and had a response from the CRA that the entry is valid, I have a new letter to CRA's on my website (in FAQ's) that you can try. It is to be used ONLY if you have already disputed with the CRA's, (or for those who have had reinsertions)
