Sorry...My computer was acting screwy no i get to type my dilemma all over again....I have two charge off accounts Sears and Providian they were sold to the same ca..i haven't validated them because i looked them over and it's accurate. I feel i'm responsible for these debts and i should pay them off...i spoke with the ca and she told me that she couldn't't delete the accounts but if i were to pay them she would put paid in full it would only show that i "possibly" had a problem in the past but i had paid them off and i would bring up my scores ..i asked if i could get it in writing she said i needed to make a payment then after i did that she would generate a letter....then i asked about paying a percentage she said she could work something out i told her that i couldn't't pay in one lump sum but i would like to pay off each account individually in 2-3 payments if she split them to 50% she said she could work that out and then i asked if it would show paid in full again she said yes ....doesn't't that sound a little off?? So should i pay the whole thing or half? and would paying the whole amount bring my score up higher then paying half? and how much could my score go up? I'm willing to pay but i want something in return....i also when the oc sold my account to the ca do they have a right to look into my cr? i have some inquires from them and i've never talked to them prior...thanks

Not that you want me to answer, but this is it:

Paid collections are no better than unpaid on score. If you pay less than 100% they will place a statement "paid legally for less than full balance". That also leaves your score ucky!

Like many others, I agreed to stuff w/o getting it in writing first. With one CC we agreed to a "settlement". I paid it. The "settlement" was for $250 less than what I owed. Funny, that was the *SAME* as the secured savings account amount. So technically, I paid the full amount, but my bureau still says "Settled for less than full amt/was 90 days!" Sucks!

Another was past SOL, my spouses acct, not mine, but they said they would delete if I paid it. I did. They didn't.

Never pay without getting it in writing first.

1*That's is not what you should base your decision about validating on. Failure to validate can cause you to get screwed by the CA. Do you feel it's justifiable for you to get shafted by the CA simply because their claim may be accurate?
2*Do you also feel you ought to get screwed for paying it.
Here is my stragety for CAs. They can have the money or the sex but not both.
    3*LIE LIE LIE!
4*Well law T daw. You pay the bill and they'll give you a receipt, getting a receipt is common practice on anything that you pay. The're really going all out for you on that one aren't they?
4b*Another lie, but they did it in 3 so why not on this one also! Won't help your score one bit.
5*lie number 3. If they won't put in writing before paying it proves they have no intentions of doing so after payment.
6*Of course paid in full is paid in full so where's the favor here?
7*All CAs are more than a little off.
8*Depends on wither you wanna get half screwed or totally screwed.
9*Paying half will bring a 500 score up to 500, but paying the whole amount will bring a 500 score up to 500.
10*Clear up to where it alreaddy is.
11*The something you''re getting in return is a screwing if you don't validate or settle for deletion in writing.
    12*NO.the CA can't.
13*Who's them the CA or OC?

    PS: * * * CAUTION
Those who get all emotional about morality over using common sense usually get screwed, especially when a CA is evolved!
