I disputed a paid CO with FUSA online through TU (yes I was just hoping it would go away!)

I received a letter from them stating they value my business (um, my account was charged off and settled for less than full balance, and they value my business???) The letter goes on to state they want to provide me with timely info about my dispute and that they requested the account be reported as "disputed" (as of this date it is not--sent dispute to CRA on 4/12)

Goes on further requesting me to sign an Affidavit of Fact that I dispute the account

    OR

sign and Affidavit of Acceptance of Liability, (that I no longer dispute)

    OR

"If we do not receive a response from you, the account will continue to report as 'Disputed by Consumer'"

I have no intention of signing and affidavit--haven't seen this talked about on Creditnet--is this standard?

    Would appreciate comments on this

Was the letter from Trans Union or FUSA?

    The letter was from FUSA.

    Additional info:

I just checked on Privacy Guard, and the account is listed as in dispute

AND... (I can't believe I have to admit how stupid I am..) This account is NOT the PAID CO. This account is my only outstanding CO that has not been settled. (Now I understand why they sent the letter, they haven't received any money from me)

I cannot believe I made this error. I have three FUSA accounts listed on my CR and I put the wrong account# on my dispute. I have been slow going on my credit repair, duh maybe I should have gone a little slower and paid more attention to details! LOL.

I still don't plan on signing anything--any ideas on what might be headed my way from FUSA if I ignore their letter? (this debt was charged off on 2/2001)

Are you sure you put the wrong account number?

Often the CRAs dispute the wrong account for me even though I put the right account number. i.e. I will dispute a citi account on my report, and they will put the dispute through for a different citi account that is reported correctly.

yep it was my mistake, checked my printout.

I kept wondering how long it took to list as disputed, (since it was taking several weeks) I checked via Privacy Guard regularly. It was only last night I noticed the other account listed in dispute and went to check my info to see what happened. That is when I noticed the account #'s didn't match.

I didn't know CRA often dispute the wrong account. What do you do when that happens?

Boy I am really making myself look like an incompetent idiot. I just re-read my first post. I sent the dispute 3/12--not 4/12! sheesh
