Ok, so awhile back I posted about RMA sending me a collection notice re an MCI account that I don't remember ever having in 97 (back in March) previously this had not shown on my CR...so I sent back the little card stating that I disputed the account and low and behold now it is on the CR and I received no info from them. Then in May I sent them a letter saying that they had not responded and that they were violating my rights by reporting negative info when the account has been disputed and they have yet to validate...I gave them 10 days to respond and then stated that if I had not heard from them i would consider that they had waived their rights to collect and that I expected that they would remove the negative info. So I still heard nothing...disputed the entry and it was verified. Now yesterday I get a letter from them saying...EQ has informed us that an inquiry has been added to your credit file...if you are trying to get credit now is the time to clear up your credit file...you owe us $200+ for this account...with another little card to return if I dispute. Good grief...first of all I don't remember ever having this account...2nd, everyone I know lives in the same town as me except one person and I would not have made $200 worth of long distance calls to them. What do you suggest I do?

Also, does anyone have a good letter to send the CRA along with my Cap 1 statement to get them to report the CL? I tried disputing it, but they did not add it in. I know it should say something about "complete and accurate" but I am hoping someone who has had success with this will share their letter.

    Thanks

    Lar-

Capital One will not report the limits. The best people here have been able to do it to provide a copy of their monthly statement to the CRAs and ask for fair and accurate information to be reported.

As for the letter, search for Lizard King's two page C&D letter on this board... It should do the trick.

Why don't you send a letter to the original creditor through planet feedback.. It can't hurt ....See if that helps...!!!

    Good luck

I am in the EXACT same boat as you in regards to RMA and MCI for some bunk account that I have no clue about. I know the account is probably fraud because the address that they are reporting that keeps getting added to my Equifax report is a former roommates old addresss that they moved to after we were done being roommates. I have sent RMA a validation letter and a follow up validation letter. I have called them several times and the last time they stated that they were removing the account and referring it BACK to MCI. They also stated that they were removing the entry on my Equifax report. I'm waiting to see what happens. One thing I regret is getting this all in writing. Maybe I'll call them and request that.
