I have an Associates / Citi account on my TU report. It is also listed under NCO who it was turned over to. In January (before I knew about this board) I got a letter from NCO with a 50% settlement offer and I paid it ($440). It is kind of annoying becuase it is scheduled to fall off in 10/02. It was past the SOL when they sent me the letter, but I did not know any better. Anyway, neither the original account or the NCO account was updated to reflect that I paid it. What I am wondering is if I should dispute it with TU, or contact NCO and point out their violations and demand deletion? If I dispute with TU, should I dispute as not mine or old? Thanks... Dan
I would dispute it as not mine. In hopes that they will see that it is suppose to fall off on 10/02 and just remove it.
Did you get a signed settlement letter? See recent post on debt negotiation. http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&postid=176489#post176489
I have a letter that they received my payment and that it was settled. They just never updated any of my reports to reflect it. I did not know if it would be more beneficial to dispute with CRA's or send them a letter pointing out the violations and demand that they remove them. Dan
