Hello, After reading through the forum for 7 days in hopes of getting a better understanding, with much more to learn, I was wonerding if someone could let me know if I am starting off on the right path. I have several account that I want to dispute, but I understand that I should start out with no more than 4 on the average. Below I will list the accounts and tradline information. Can someone please tell me if the assumed approach is correct from their expertise and experience. (1) SAMS CLUB/MBGA XXXXXXX Opened: 7-03 High Balance: $501 Payments: 17 Balance: $0 Credit Limit: $0 Date Verified: 02/2005 Date Closed: 04/2004 Date Paid: 02/2004 Pay Status: Payment After Charge Off Last Dlq: 08-04 Submitted to Coll: 12/04 Hist: 9919559492111111111111111 (25 months Rev) *I paid this account, via credit card, before being aware of this forum, unfortuantly. Also it is only showing paid on my Transunion file. Therefore, I was wondering if I am trying to get this account deleted, should I first send a letter to the CA to verify that the tradeline is being reported correctly. And then after my green card comes back, send the same letter to the CRB. Or should I send a letter to the CA stating "Not Mine". Then send the same letter to the CRA onc my green card comes back. I made my payment to the collection agency, nevertheless, the OC name is showing on my credit report. Also if I have an CA on my credit file, who is representing the OC, should I approach them any differently, meaning when it comes to sending them letters. I have paid the CA & their name is actually showing on my credit file. As with the first senerio listed above, I also paid the CA, nevertheless, the OC name is showing on my credit report. I hope I am not going way off into left field, I am rying to make sure that I understand before starting the process. Thanks alot.
I always suggest disputing with the CRA first as not mine. Sometimes that's all you need. I if it comes back verified then go after whoever is reporting it. Lots of times you can dispute it 2-3 times with the CRA before they stop disputing for you. Sometimes you get a deletion because the OC or CA thinks it's just a duplicate and doesn't respond.
