good morning! I posted yesterday but didn't hear anything back and I really need some advise on how to proceed. I have a collection on my CR for $88 from a dentist visit in 1999. I was unaware of any payment that needed to be made from this visit because I thought my insurance covered everything. When I left the visit, a bill was not given to me or anything. Shortly after the visit, I moved accross the country. I never received this bill until about 8 months later when it was forwarded to my new address in cali. At this point it was in collections so I paid it immeditately. Of course now that I am obsessed with clearing up my CR, I want this removed because it is keeping my score down. So have been doing some research... I called the dentist to see what address they had on file and it was my address from Virginia. I explained how this situation happend and she said there was nothing she could do, I would have to go through the CA. The dentist office did tell me that my insurer at the time was MetLife. I checked with a very "pleasant" CSR at I.C. Systems (CA) and they have my VA address as well. I asked them if they are trying to collect money from people, then why don't they use the USPS fast forward system that updates any address changes in the USA (such as magazines, student loans, insurance co, etc). She had no response...interesting. Then, I checked with the dental insurer and they have my length of coverage from my previous employer (1/98-3/99); however, they show ZERO claims for that time period of coverage. She said if there was a claim, no matter how long ago it was submitted, it would be listed! I have a call into the dentist to check their claim records (they seemed pretty annoyed with me! ha-ha) and she said she'll get back to me. I sort of fell like she's not going to follow up. It's been about 24 hours and the dentist office has not called back with information on the claim submitted. Can someone please give me advice on how to move forward with this? Thank you in advance
