My DH has a collection account from Affiliated that we think is for an old gym membership that he signed and authorized auto debit from a credit card. He closed the credit card and they were no longer able to auto debit the amount. It has been turned over to a CA with these amounts listed on the CR:
    Balance: $379
    Most Owed:$528
    Past Due: $360

Status as of 04/2002: Collection Account
    Updated: 12/2002
    Opened: 02/2001
    Closed: 04/2002

Should we send them a validation letter and see what type of response we get? What are they required by law to furnish to us since it is an installment sale? Should I dispute as not mine?

Also, they are only reporting to Transunion. Do you think we are opening up a can of worms for them to report to all three credit agencies. I am trying to keep his Equifax clean since that is the one in Georgia that people mainly pull.

    Thanks.
