I remember reading somewhere that if you dispute with one of the major cra's they are supposed to notify the other's of the information. (I think it was in one of my post-BK books I got). I started my disputes with TU and Exp on Aug 24th. I called to order my Equifax report today and their automated system said that they've recently sent out a report for me. I didn't order one from them so I'm guessing that maybe it has to do with my other disputes?? Has anyone ever gotten a new report from the other CRA's after they've disputed with one? I still haven't heard anything back from the other two, I'm hoping it will be anytime now. (FINALLY got my mailbox put back up yesterday by the City!!) I wish I would have read that I should only dispute maybe 4 things at a time. I think I did about 8 on each one. I'm anxious to see what comes out of this. Thanks in advance.
No they do not notify each other of the results of a dispute. You have to dispute the errors on each and it is up to each individual CRA to verify the information. Also, even if one deletes the info and you send proof of the deletion to the other CRA, they will not accept that info and delete the account off your report with them. So in other words maybe one account will be unverifiable and deleted on one CRA and the same account with another CRA will be verified and remain. You just have to keep disputing the account and eventually you may get it deleted. I wish it were that easy, but it does not work that way.
Wouldn't want it to work that way. Then if one CRA has negative information that another CRA does not have, you could end up with a derog being added where it wasn't before.
I totally agree, that was going to be my other point, but I didn't know quite how to word it. It could be a credit disaster! Just dispute and be glad for the deletions you get and keep working at it.
Okay after reading some more info from the FTC. I realized it's if the INFORMATION PROVIDER finds the disputed information to be inaccurate, it must notify all nationwide CRAs so that they can correct your file. Okay that makes more sense. Maybe that's why Equifax may have sent me a report recently? I'm going to call and speak to someone tomorrow and see if one actually was even sent out. With my luck it's a standard recording. I'm just wondering since I know FUSA had my info all wrong after my Bk. I'm hoping they fixed it. Oh well, I'll see what's up. I'm anxious to see what my score is. Thanks for your help.
