Agreement Letter from CA

    Recieved this letter today.

    Collection Consultants of California

    Acount number:
    Creditor: Kaiser foundation health plan
    Amount due: $245

    Per our agreement, if the sum of $200 is recieved at our office on or before 6-18-03, said sum will constitute settlement in full for the above listed creditors. We further agree to instruct credit bureaus to delete all credit reporting as to this account (s).

    Wanted to check with you guys. It's not signed , is this legit? or am i too paranoid off reading this board.

    You are right to be concerned that it's not signed. I would call them and ask for a signed copy of the letter. If they won't send a signed copy of the letter. be sure to send them an UNSIGNED check, with the MICR numbers removed.

    They are nortorious for this kinda stuff. Be wary of this company. Make them put everything in writing and have it signed. They tried to stiff me, but lost in court. I had to use a recorded conversation as leverage. My only bonus doing so was I notified them and had the lady state that she knew this call was being recorded and gave her permission to do so.

    Make sure they delete it as well.

    I called them on the phone to ask for a signed letter and they said they won't send it. I can't believe this, thanks for the advice, you saved me lots of headache.
    It was a medical bill collection anyway. I am going to send the Hipaa to OC. Wish me luck.
