Alphabetical Creditnet Glossary

    The following is an alphabetical list of commonly found abbreviations on Creditnet.

    Most of these are contributions from our valued Creditnet family. The majority of listings are also in the permanent glossary listed at the top of the page of daily posts. Hopefully this will make it easy for readers to look up abbreviations they are not familiar with.

    PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD TO THIS LIST & REPOST.


    A.G. = Attorney General

    Amex- American Express

    AU = Authorized User

    BK7 - Chapter 7 (bankruptcy) The Mark Of The Beast and a CRA entry to avoid (or eliminate) at all costs!

    BK 13 - Chapter 13

    BT - Balance Transfer. What you use to remove a balance from a card that does you wrong! The evildoer goes into the...

    CA - Collection Agency. Really bad guys! They always blame the CRA's (above).

    CAP 1 = Capital One

    CBD Citi Backdoor Double - Rapidly applying for multiple Citibank CC products with the intention of combining their CL's.

    CC - Credit Card.

    CCC Credit Card Company

    CCCS Consumer Credit Counseling Services. Good guys with a fair mission statement who will take your money, make delinquent payments to your creditors, and trash up your tradelines with their notations. Oh, and they might save you some money. Or not.

    CE score - CreditExpert score. A bullsh!t facsimile of FICO scoring cooked up by Experian (a CRA) and not used by any lender. Intended to part consumers with their hard earned cash.

    Cert. = Certified

    Citi- Citibank

    CL - Credit limit. Many people use rather unorthodox yet crafty methods to snag more of this. (See Citi Backdoor Double)

    CLOD= creditnet labor day onslaught of disputes

    C.H.O.D.= CreditNet Holiday Onslaught of Disputes :)

    CO charge off

    Col. Collect

    CRO Credit Repair Organization

    CRA Credit Reporting Agency

    Cred. Creditor

    C.S.O.D.=CreditNet Summer Onslaught of Disputes

    Del. Delete

    derog = Derogatory tradeline = an item on your credit file that is negative in any way.

    EQ - Equifax. Another CRA.

    EXP (or EX) - Experian. Another CRA.

    FCRA = Fair Credit Reporting Act

    FDCPA = Fair Debt Collection Practices Act

    FICO score - Fair Isaac. A black-box credit scoring system used to predict (and in many people's opinion CAUSE) a borrower's future default. Also known as BEACON. 500's: You have a lot of work to do. 600's: You're not done yet. 700's: You're golden. 800's: You're God.

    Gar. Guarantee

    GC Green CardCRA - Credit Reporting Agency. Bad guys. They always blame their mistakes on:

    Goodwill letter - correspondence or letter created by PsychDoc to get late payments removed, due to some unfortunate event in your life that caused the late payments, from your current and positive tradelines.

    Int. Interest

    Lib. Liability

    Litigious Nutcase Letter - A letter written by PsychDoc that you can use to make yourself look like a lawsuit-happy whacko in an attempt to make paid collection/charge-off tradelines disappear for good! Best when notarized and sent via certified mail for maximum psychological effect (why do you think he's called PsychDoc?!?)

    LOC - Line of credit.

    Neg. Negative

    NCO â?? Collection agency

    OC= original creditor

    Orig. Original

    PBM = (p)roverbial (b)oard (m)onitor.

    P.D. Permanently Delete (ed)

    Perm. Permanent

    PFB - Planetfeedback.com. A nifty site that will hold your hand through the process of writing an electronically submitted feedback letter to faceless corporations and optionally share them with the general public. Also a great place to read train-wreck letters written by livid yet clueless people who inflict their unruly progeny on the general public in stores and restaurants and somehow expect the management to tolerate them or even welcome them back.

    PITA = Pain In the A$$

    "R" - a lender's Retention department. Retention Agents are
    usually much more powerful than ordinary customer service reps.
    They are trained to negotiate and will improve the terms of your
    account if your "profitability score" justifies it.

    RMA â?? Collection Agency

    ROFLMAO â?? Rolling on the floor laughing my a$$ off

    S.A.G. = State Attorney General

    SCC Small Claims Court

    Silent - Credit accounts (often Amex LOC) that do not appear on your credit history in any way, shape, or form. Great places to hide debt! Poor places to build credit!

    Sock Drawer: Place you put any high APR, bad customer service cards you receive. aka - Credit card purgatory. Where you place the CC's from companies that just won't play ball with you. The idea is to have them come begging for your business again.

    SOL = Statute of Limitation or Shit outta luck

    TD = turned down

    "TOY CARD" = When a credit card company gives you an 80% lower credit limit, THAN YOUR CURRENT LOWEST CREDIT LIMIT...

    Tradeline - a line (single entry) on your credit report. Many of us go through hell to make certain ones to go away. Others want certain ones to appear.

    TU - Transunion. A CRA.

    UDF = Universal Data Form. Its the form that the subscribers
    (collectors, creditors, etc.) to the CRAs use to update/delete tradelines.

    IF YOU DO A "SEARCH"...YOU WILL GET MANY, MANY "HITS" ON BDD...ONE "HIT" ON CBD...
