I have a copy of a letter one of my creditors forwarded to me once I paid off the account when it went into collections. The letter states that this account has been "satisfied" and will inform CRA's. Credit reports for this tradeline are showing "Settlement reached on Account". If I was to present this letter to the CRAs are they then obligated to accept this letter as proof and change the comments to show "satisfied". Thanks
The CRAs seem to have a real problem accepting evidence from the consumer (unless of course you sue them). But, you can dispute it as incorrect, send the letter with the dispute and hope the creditor doesn't verify it. Then they will have to delete it.
