I'm trying to fight Qwest Communications on a long distance bill where I was told I would receive a rate of 10cents a minute on calling card calls but I was being billed at 7 times that amount!

I just got a message from a supervisor saying that the calling card fees are in the welcome packet I received and of course I don't have it anymore. She claim the rates were listed in the welcome packet as: $1.25 for the first minute and 69 cents each additional minute. Who in their right mind would use this service! I know I wouldn't and that's why I'm disputing these charges.

I get normal telephone long distance from them at .05 cents a minute 24-7 which is fine. This calling card totally shocked me though.

I know you are gonna preach "in writing" but what if you get mislead by the company of what you are being billed.

IF there is nothing I can do I'm stuck with a nasty $700.00 phone bill.

    Thanks.

    I'm not gonna preach ;-)

Is there anyone over his(supervisor) head you can call?

    Planetfeedback maybe?

    BBB maybe?

I don't know, maybe someone else out there has good ideas.

    Good luck....

You can contact the BBB and talk to another supervisor (over this one or just another one period).

The bad news is if you have no proof you MAY be stuck. Additionally, if the welcome packet contains the information regarding the rates, it really is your responsibility to read them.

The good news is if you contact them again and speak to someone else, if you appeal to their goal of customer service, they may be willing to work with you.

Besides contacting the BBB you might call your states ATTORNEY GENERAL'S office. If there are others in the same exact situation as you then it definitely is a scam. QWEST has been fined millions of dollars by different states for all kinds of abuses to their customers. They have absolutely horrendous customer service because the reps get paid commission on sales only.
