I just got my 2nd round of disputes and one of them makes no since:

    NBGL
    #122333
    Status: Paid/ Voluntarily Surrendered
Account history: Voluntarily Surrendered as of 4/01

Voluntarily surrendered? What did I surrender? And why is it 2 yrs after (4/01) I paid it off? I paid the account off 7/99, I have copies of the checks with their endorsements on the back.

Am I trippin or are they doing something strange?

Looks like they have it as a voluntary repo. Can't be good! I would definitely fight this!

How do I fight it? Do I send a Nutcase Letter?

First, dispute with the CRA as "not mine." If they come back and say it's verified, send them a procedural request. At the same time, send a validation letter to NBGL. Make it a simple letter that you found this on your credit report and have no idea what it's about. Ask them to send you proof that this entry is yours.

If NBGL says they've never heard of you or have no record of a voluntary surrender, and the CRA tells you they verified it, you can collect $1000 as you have it removed.

Hi Hedwig! Does he have to dispute it again? Since he just disputed, and it came back verified, can't he send the proceedures request now? I ask because I have a similar situation with Equifax, they just verified something and I thought my next step was a proceedures request, since I know they couldn't have verified it. Let us know! Thanks! NuB

Sorry, I got confused with another post. No, you don't need to dispute it again, just send the procedure request. I'm not with it today.

That's what I get for taking a day off!

By the way I'ma "she" :)
Yes, EXP verified it, so now I'll send out the procedural request to the CRA. I paid this debt off (after charge off) in 7/99. I'm just trippin that they have it listed as a voluntarily surrender in 2001.

I'm sending that letter to EXP today and the validation letter to NGBL as well.

    Thanks!
