I've been lurking here for past two weeks and started posting a few days ago. It seems my posts are being ignored. My story is long and complicated, as such, I felt compelled to spare everyone the gory details. Now I'm wondering if there is some protocol on the board I failed to follow. I have knowledge to share and question to ask. What does one do to be welcomed to the fold?
We are sorry for failling to reply to your post. First off, welcome ot the board. There are no set standards for posting. May times, if we do not know the answer to your situation, we may not post. However, I assure you that someone will comment on your post eventually. You have to continue to bump your post to the forefront until someone with pertinent information can answer your questions. Once again welcome.
As a newbie to the board myself, I know what you mean. Keep asking and the answers will come though. It's kind of like being the new kid in school Gib
Welcome to the board, defender! {{pulling out the official welcome mat}} There's usually a barrage of questions & situations, and posts get easily buried sometimes. Just ask again, or bump your post, & someone who's been through it will respond.
I am new here as well...I read your story on the milkmom thread. My problem concerns taxes due on unfiled tax returns dating back to '89 & '90. I was going to try and repair my credit report which was all that bad except for the irs lien (which is humongous) but after consulting a tax att, bk atty and CPA my only avenue is to file a chapter 13...or else the irs will never go away! Now I just come in here for an education...to get some pointers for my daughter who basically just has defaulted student loans for 3K...no biggie. I have gotten some advice from the pros I consulted re:credit reports...which I will disseminate in the appropriate threads. I will keep an eye on your threads tho' and If I can help I sure will try! clc
Welcome here, certainly, this is a very welcoming group of people. Is there some protocol your aren't following - possibly. I went looking to see what you've posted. They were contributions to other discussions, individual acknowledgement is unlikely (except when people strongly disgaree.) In the Helping Milkmom discussion you've posted some of your story. If there is a question in there it may be lost on the rest of the readers. I took it as a sympathetic response to her situation, that you have similar things going on, and that you have a plan you are working through. If you've got some questions about how to handle your situation you may want to start a new thread specific to your issues, and be specific about the kind of help you want. I think you'll be suprised by how helpful folks will be.
Even though I kept seeing the entry, I didn't know what "bump" meant, meaning to make an entry just to get it back on the front page again. If uncomfortable about your posts, you might peruse through the FAQ's and the library to see if there is something that will assist you. Then build on that information when posing a query. Maybe you have already done that, don't mean to suggest that you did not. I just know that I found the FAQ's and library very helpful. I think this is a very "friendly to newbie's " board. Everyone has to start somewhere. I would venture that you will find the assistance you need.
I just saw that your story was primarily entered in the milkmom thread. I'm certain others would advise to set up a separate thread, rather than including request for assistance in middle of ongoing thread
Of course you are welcome here!! We love new people!! The suggestions you have been given are pretty much on target. Start your own thread, and say that you are new and what your question or problem is. Usually that will get a response - if not, don't take it personally. On weekends a lot of the regulars are somewhere else, and not posting. During the week this board flies at an unimaginable pace, and within a minute or two your post can be gone from the first page unnoticed. Often if you bump it back to the top a few times and it is a weekday, and no one answers, it is because no one knows the answer and we are waiting for someone who does to answer. One of the protocols here (although you will only get teased if you do it) is to try not to hijack someone else's thread. We all do it, however, so don't worry about offending anyone. Usually the person who started the thread will just tell you to go get your own, LOL. I've noticed that a catchy phrase for a subject will often get attention, and that stating multiple issues and 5 or 6 different questions at once tends to be passed over more easily. The best responses come when you introduce yourself, say you're new, and post the basics of the story or situation that brought you here. Folks will immediately start welcoming you and asking questions so they can share their experiences.
I felt the same way as you do, but once I figured out what Breeze so nicely spelled out, it has been a big help.
I would have been happy to comment, hopefully with some helpful suggestions, when I read your post on the "milkmom" thread, however, you didn't say what State you are in. There may be some State laws that protect your SO from being fired while on sick leave. There may be some State labor laws that can help you get unemployment, there may be some job training or assistance program available in your field of work, if I knew what THAT was. This board mostly deals with credit related problems, but I and others are happy to try and help with other stuff if we have some information to work with.
You are very welcome! I cannot post to most of the questions on this board, because I am not a credit repair person or a person interested in improving my FICO. Most of my post are about getting lower rates and higher limits. On accasions, I have posted about other subjects, but only from my personal experience. There are many very knowledgable people on this board that will gladly help. Stick around and good luck. www.creditsense.com
Hi Defender! Welcome aboard! I am somewhat new - found this board back in January - so I am still learning everything I can about repairing my credit. Sometimes it does get frustrating when your posts aren't answered. It happens to all of us occasionally. Just be persistent. Also, in your spare time (who has any of that these days?!? ha ha) do searches. You will most likely find what you are looking for and go from there. I have found that some people are more helpful than others on certain things, and there are a few people who almost always answer my posts (thanks Breeze, Javan, and everyone else who always seems to reply to my sometimes repetitive posts! So just be persistent and again, welcome to the board. girliegirl
hello defender yes, i am a newbie too, but one thing i can say is that this board does not have a problem with bumping...so don't be afraid to use it! learning with the rest of us! jimrie
Hi Defender - welcome - whatz cooking? Where are you and get ready for us to share our issues with you also LOL! best regards - dogman
to creditwork to creditwork... I emailed you a query, and only after I sent it did I think that it may be going to the big creditsense.com mailbox. If that is the case, please dig it out of there. you will recognize it by the maggie75 in subject line. please let me know that the whole world isn't going to see my query? I gave some specifics, seeking info on LOC's?APR's. Nothing too private, nothing that pretty much hasn't been revealed in other threads. I just didn't think that maybe your email is linked to creditsense when I sent it. as my daughter would say, "My bad..."
I am welcome here Reshod, Rina, ms, Maggie75, breeze, mtnair, Why Chat, creditwork, girliegirl, beckyboo and dogman Thank you for the very warm welcome! Gib, (great sig line!) clc, and Jimrie Many thanks. I'm in good newbie company. Well Folks, I'm working on four people's credit files, (including my own,) and suspect I'll have a few questions. Up to now, my experience has been limited to disputing trade lines with the CRAs, and cease/desist letters to CAs. Believe it or not, these "lightweight" techniques actually work much of the time. The debt validation and other awesome techniques I've been studying here are definately the big guns, though. I appreciate all the replies and look forward to sharing information. Again, thank you all very much.
