I had posted this is another post, but with these results, I wanted everyone to get to see this. Many know my situation and how upset I was with my new Disney card because of the CL given......$2500. The other day I decided to send a PFB stating how much I loved the card and how excited I was to use it, but that with such a low limit, I would not be able to use it much. I sent the PFB yesterday morning. By mid-afternoon, someone from Bank One in Illinois had sent me a high priority e-mail stating that she had sent my request of a higher CL to an executive in the credit department. I said great, but I also thought to myself, yeah.....right. This afternoon (about 30 hours after my PFB was sent) I got a call from an executive at Bank One. She told me that she so upset that I felt slighted and that she re-looked over my application to see what she can do. Turns out, they base their CL on other open credit tradelines, which I don't have. Therefore it triggered the automatic minimum limit on the card, since it is a platinum card of $2500. She said that even though according to their regulations it was the correct decision, she had an offer for me. She said that she was willing to double my CL on the spot to $5000 and that if I needed more after posting three payments on the account to call her back. She gave me her direct number and told me that in three months she could easily go to $10000 on me as long as the account was in good standing. Here is the kicker.......I called the 800 number about an hour later to see. Sure enough, "you limit is $5000". Amazing. I have to say that I couldn't be more impressed with Bank One right now. Not only because I got the increase I wanted, but because of the timeliness of the response. I am shocked to be quite honest. Just wanted this out there incase someone had a similar situation.
Wow that's great! I was offered 6500 with the same kind of answer (relatively short credit history and current credit limits)....but i don't want to go over 50% so I was wondering if I pfb'd if they might raise the initial too. Knowing what you said and what worked, what should I say?
Congratulations! That's great negotiating. And, I would hold the account executive to her word and call her back in three months.
It's interesting that you have scores in the 700's without a lot of tradelines. Privacyguard has that as a negative on the scoring. At least you got someone at Bank One with some common sense. I sent validation to them and they want me to send them my credit report so they can see what I'm talking about. Fat chance.
Amy......I think the thing that helped was telling them how much I enjoyed having the card and how badly I wanted to use it. I just think the positive attitude I had came back 10 fold. Some might have approachded it more from a aggravated view point and maybe not gotten anywhere. Just be upbeat and tell them how you want it so that you can use the card more. I think that helped the most.
I plan to Marci. I just got back from Disney for the weekend and I want to go on the Disney Cruise later in the year, so I think I will call her back in three months and tell her that if she goes ahead and raises the limit again as promised, I will charge my cruise to the card! Always leave something for them to feel good!
weather....I wondered if it was the same gal that called me. They upped my initial (but didn't double it like yours) then when I asked what they could do about raising it again, she didn't commit. She said she was from the office of the president of bank one. She was very nice though.
Do you still have her name and number? I was looking for where I wrote mine down to see if it was the same person.
