First time poster here just wanted to say I love this site I just found it today and am amazed at the people with great info. I have been looking for help like this for six years now since killing my credit with stupidty in college.
Just 2 questions. I have three credit cards that I have been paying off regularly for at least a year thanks to online bill payments through my bank. My reports all are still showing the 30,60, and 90 days late payement from the past 7 years. I also have 3 collections that have all been paid to a zero balance (2 within the last 2 months). And finally I have 2 installment loans 1 auto, 1 boat that have been paid out; but each have 2 30 days late payment on them. Here are my 2 million dollar questions for all the guru's out there.

    1. Can I bargain with the credit card co's Chase, Providian, and Discover to remove the late payements upon final payement of balances owed?

    2. Can I do anything with the collection accounts and installment loans since they already have been paid off (I cant negotiate payment since it already has been made). What can i do to get these off or deleted?

3rd bonus question Am i screwed for 7 years now that everything is paid off?

Any info is appreciated. I will be seaching the archives for similar questions. Thanks Again.

    1. YES - you can request a "goodwill adjustment". do a search on this site and you'll find an example. You can send this via www.planetfeedback.com if you like.

    2. I would begin by just disputing them with the CRA's as not mine.

    3. NO - you are not screwed because you've got help now!!!!!

    Welcome to the board!

    Javan one more question,
I forgot to metion that these 3 credit card account were all closed b/c I joined a ccsa about 2 years ago and dropped out after it was more of a hassle than just paying the bills myself. Do you think the goodwill letter is still worth a shot since the accounts are closed I also enrolled with the lexington law firm should I just let them do their thing first?

I have heard that you will want to make sure that the CRA's DO NOT have your ccsa listed anywhere on your report. If they do, petition to have it removed.

Yes, I did this for my wife for an MBNA account that was Paid/Closed back in 1999.

Not sure. Ask them if they will do it. But if they only deal with CRA's, then you can do it yourself. I probably would just do it myself and let them know.

Thanks guys, after reading my reports I dont see anything on them other than being closed about the CCSA. I am sending off the godwill letter as we speak. Thanks again I may be able to sleep better now knowing that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
