If anyone remembers reading my post about my old charged off Dillard card account that showed up twice:

    http://consumers.creditnet.com/phorum/read.php?f=1&i=36583&t=36583

I disputed just the duplicate account that was on Equifax. Today I got the results back and Equifax deleted BOTH accounts! Thank God, that mess is over. I can't figure out why they took them both off since I only disputed one, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth ;)

Did you dispute online? How long did equifax take to investigate this?

Is that account a very old one? If it is still active and reporting, it might come back again.

    But, hey, congratulations.

Actually, the account was charged off in 1994 (even though Dillard alleges that it was co in 1995. It was due to fall off my report in 1 year with the 1995 co date. When I recently disputed directly through Dillard they insisted their dates were correct and would not change it. I also disputed to Equifax several months ago and both were verified. I guess I just lucked out. I doubt it will ever come back. Read the original post from the link above.

I didn't dispute this one online. I just used their form to dispute the duplicate and explained that it was a duplicate account and that the chargeoff date should be 9/94 for the original account. I mailed the dispute the last week of February and got the results today. I have a feeling Equifax didn't even investigate this time and took my word for the co date, which made the entry 7 years old so they just deleted?? Especially since it was obviously one account reported twice and each one had different co dates.

Congrats mvfl, you must feel so much better with both them gone. You stated the date should have been 9/94, I guess they took it off early for you:)

Sometimes it is easier to delete it, than it is to research it!!!

EVEN IF IT CAME BACK VERIFIED, THEY PROBABLY DIDN'T ACTUALLY RESEARCH IT!!!

I agree with George. It sounds like they never investigated the first time and this time just said....delete it.
