I had a secured Optima card. I was satisfactorily paying the account online. A former co-worker made illegal withdrawals from my checking account. This caused a return of an line payment. Amer Ex instantly cancelled my account and did not give me a chance to explain that I was a victim of fraud. Yet, they kept sending me marketing and promotional literature as if I was still a cardholder. When I called to discuss the matter, I got different and varying responses from different representatives. Are they just so large that small accounts (or subprime credit rebuilders) don't matter? Or - is it a policy/training issues. The same individual also made fraudulent charges to my daughter's Discover card (I'm an authorized user). Discover, however, could not have been more helpful or understanding. I don't know if I ever want a relationship with Amer Ex again.
Well, you certainly have good reason to be dissatisfied with them. For what it's worth, I love AMEX. Their service has been excellent. Their balance transfer process could use some speed optimization, but other than that no complaints here. If for no other reason I like them because they're the "underdog." Kinda like what Apple is to the computer world. Anyway, I hope you get it sorted out. cheers.
