here is a more legal question regarding credit: I moved here almost 7 yrs ago from Canada and I am a permanent resident. I currently have shi**y American Credit, and my Canadian Credit is perfect. What would happen if I were to move back? Would American Creditors be able to follow me to Canada? Like I have said before, I have 38k in student loans sofar, if I were to leave, would that come back to haunt me? I know that the CC that I have couldn't do anything since my Canadian social security number is totally different.
My H's situation is reverse. He defaulted on Canadian student loans and moved here. They attempted to skip him and collect. Couple of times they called our house. We've moved a couple of times, and we haven't heard from them in over 5 years. Think they probably just charged them off. Nothing has ever showed up on his CR's. If they don't have your SSN, it's unlikely they will be able to report it the Canadian CRA (who is it anyway?). They can however still get a judgement against you to pay and garnish wages if they locate you and your employer.
