Hello, here's the situation. I filed BK7 3 years ago and I included AMEX in BK. My sister has perfect credit and got approved for the AMEX Blue Cash. She tried adding me to her account as an authorized user, but she got a letter stating that they will not issue me a card because I have unsatisfactory history on the account. My credit has improved a lot since discharge. All my scores are above 700 (in PG) and BK is gone from Equifax and Experian(there are still some Included in BK accounts though still reported). Is there any way around this? I love my sister's Blue Cash card....I'd love to have one too. What if I pay my debt to AMEX that was included in the BK? Will that help at all? Any suggections/comments are welcome. Thanks.
The only way you will ever be an authorized user or your own American Express account is to pay in full what you owed them on the BK account. I think the account can be reaffirmed through the BK court.
You don't have to reaffirm through the bk court. The case is closed by now. You can pay AMEX directly and you'll be off their blacklist in a year.. but you don't really have to wait that long. Just pay it, make sure it has posted, then have her get you an AU card. If you don't pay them back in full you can't do business with Amex again.
