I had a $133 unpaid charge off from American Express that dates from 1990. It has since been deleted from my credit report. In previous posts on this board (read below about Optima) I have read that American Express maintains social security numbers and identities so that they never again extend credit to anyone that has had a delinquent American Express account - even if it no longer shows on national credit bureau reports. I was a dumb 19 yo kid when I defaulted on the card and is it reasonable or even smart to have such a blanket policy eliminating potentially profitable consumers?
RE: American Express Denials O When you gave American Express your SS# they pull your old info no matter how old it is.
