    Hey everybody,

I just have a quick question. Im an American Express Optima Platinum holder. I wanted to know what is the best possible way to pay the balance with American Express. I have a 3k limit. So far I used only 50 dollars of it, and payed 40 dollars one month and 10 dollars the next month. Should i just pay in full every month. I figured I would let a little interest accure so they can make some money. I want to earn a good rep with them, to get quicker increase limits and also to be invited to get higher cards with them. Let me know your tips. Thanks

max it out and pay it off works for me , if that is out of your range just use and payoff you will be fine they make 3% on everything anyway

Your not going to get invitations for other amex products or very much attention charging only $50/month, You need to spend 500-600 or better yet, a thousand a month and amex will show you the love and beg you to take another amex card (gold, delta, hilton). That is what amex is all about..........Spend Spend Spend and Pay Pay Pay, do that and you'll be amex's good graces for years.

Increases come every 6 months on revolving cards and if you let them pull a hard inq, the increases can be substancial. But the 6-month rule still applies.

I just barely got it. I have a Citi Plat Select at 5% interest (Employee). So I barely just started using my Amex. So spending a few hundred, I can do. Thanks for the replies.

What's most important to you? If you can pay the balance in full each month, it will be reported. If you cannot pay the balance each month, it will STILL be reported.

Some folks get caught in the trap of using credit solely to improve the credit score. Trust me on this one. It's not worth it. The end result will be the same.

I should know. I pay my Amex off each time I have a balance (which isn't very often). Then, I reward myself by redeeming the points I've accumulated for free stuff (IE. Home Depot gift card or something).

Amex rewards me by doing their job and reporting accurate information and my scores continue to benefit from this relationship.

Use the credit you have wisely and everything else will take care of itself, including the improvement of your credit scores.
