Hope someone can help me with this one. Years ago my husband was involved in a car accident (hit from behind). Both he and the driver of the other car were taken to the hospital by an AMR ambulance. My husband never received a bill for the ride. Neither was the other driver. The claim was eventually closed without ever receiving a bill from AMR.

Months later his parents were contacted by a collection agency, with the bill. After MUCH research we found out that AMR sent the bill to an old address and when the bill was returned it was immediately turned over to a collection agency. That happened within 30 days.

My question is, aren't there certain rules that a company needs to follow before turning over an account to a collection agency and do we have any recourse to the situation.

I appreciate ANY help on this one.

I don't know if this helps, but AMR is out of business. Should make any validation difficult.

I take that back. I guess they just went out of business here in this part of Virginia. I see on their website that they are alive and transporting in other areas.
