I checked my husbands creditexpert today and he gained 2 points. I wanted to know why so I got his CR and found something very odd.

An Amex account that had been closed over a year ago is suddenly being reported on Experian. It had only been on TU and EQ since 1999. I am guessing it is a good account because it will stay on until 2012 (if you can believe that) but I need some advice.

The account was closed by the "credit granter" because my husband could not pay the card off in one month and it went to collections two months later. The CA agreed to not put any negative lates on the account if we paid within three months. So that is what we did and they fulfilled their end of the bargin. But that was over a year ago.

Why is it showing up now on Experian? It has no negatives but how will it impact his score? Should we contact them and see if they would reopen the account? Would they do it without pulling a hard IQ?Thanks Diane
