Does anyone know if AMEX has plans to add United to their airline partners for membership rewards? I'm really suprised United isn't listed with all of the other airlines they have.
I would highly doubt it. UA has a deal with BankOne (The UA MileagePlus Visa Signature by FirstUSA). It started out as a deal with First Chicago back in the 80's before FCC was bought by B1. Amex used to have an agreement with NWA but that ended when NWA partnered with FirstBank (now US Bank) for the WorldPerks Visa. Here's a quick summary of airlines & hotels and who's they're in bed with ... American -> Citibank America West -> BankAmerica Delta -> Amex (Skymiles & Membership Rewards) Continental -> Chase & Amex Membership Rewards USAir -> BankAmerica & Amex Membership Rewards Northwest -> USBank Air Canada -> CIBC Visa, Enroute Diners Club Alaska Airlines -> BankAmerica Southwest -> BankOne (FirstUSA) Hilton (Amex HHonors & Citi Visa Signature) Starwood (Amex Platinum) Marriott -> BankOne (FirstUSA) Six Continents -> BankOne (FirstUSA) Amex Membership Rewards can be xfer'd into the following programs: Delta USAir Continental Southwest Hawaiian Virgin Korean EL AL Aeromexico Mexicana LatinPass ANA Marriott Hilton Starwood Priority Plus (6-continents) Best Western LAST but NOT LEAST ... remember that Diners Club can transfer points into EVERY program above -and more. Happy trails- mj
