Has anyone had success getting annual fees reduced or waived on amex charge cards? (I just got a letter saying their annual fee is going to be raised to $395/yr.) If so, how much do you charge on average? I'm not looking foward to paying $395.
I was given a $75 courtesy credit on my bill to keep my platinum card. This was back in Feb when the fee was $300.

How did you get a $75 credit? Did you have to threaten to close your account, or what? I charge about $3000 a month, so I'm not a huge spender... they might not want to work with me...
I've only charge around $5000 on the platinum card for the whole year. I did want to close out the account, but the rep offered me $75 credit. I'm planning on using the international airline program this summer anyway, second business class ticket to asia will be worth the $300 fee. I usually use my Starwood card which I charge around $25k per year.
