I applied for Amex delta card on 3/12. Amex called my job to verify employment on 3/14. Since then, I have been calling 1-800-the-card number to check status of application, but I still get the message that the app is being processed and that I will receive notification in X business days. Any idea of how long this "process" takes before I receive some info on their decision? From previous posts, I have read that it takes less than 3 days from the date of application for one to find out if they have been approved for the card? Would it help if I spoke to a CS rep to see if they have any further information on the status of my application? Thanks...
George... Tried your suggestion and goth through to CS rep who transferred me to new accounts. I spoke to new accounts, gave them my ss#, and they pulled up application for Blue in Feb. (denied). I told them that I was now applying for delta card, but was informed that no credit report had been pulled on my application! Say what???? AMEX called my job to verify employment w/o running a credit report??? Rep maintained that no cr had been pulled and told me this was the reason for no decision on my application. Well, she pulled new report and said to call back tomorrow to get decision. I asked rep why I had to wait for tomorrow and she replied that they needed to "verify" more info on application. Weird......
In the age of 30 second APPROVAL/DENIAL...WAIT TILL TOMORROW??? (INSTANT GRATIFICATION)??? I think it's better to be DENIED then have to wait 24 hours or 2 weeks or 4 weeks!!!
This is as bad as a "MAIL-IN-REBATE"...8-12 WEEKS??? Let me see...you have the coupon filled in...you have the bar code...you have a copy of the receipt..."OK...THIS ONE IS DONE...PUT THIS IN THE MAIL PILE TO GO OUT JUNE 3rd"...
