I have been applying for an American Express card every 2 weeks now for about 3 monthsnow. I would keep getting denied. I have been cleaning up my credit report but TU and Experian still has some errors. Well I got a call tonite saying I was approved for A DElta Gold with a LOC of 22,500. I was so shocked! I actually called AMEX back to make sure it wasn't a joke. I do have a Quantum MBNA with a 22,500 LOC. I wonder if this is a coincidence! I am happy though.

Where you applying for different cards or the same card every time? This is interesting....I wonder what made them cave in? I wonder if their approvals are strickly score driven like the Target Visa???

I was applying for different cards every time.
Maybe this time they pulled my equifax report which has no errors on it at all.

I know! I have never seen such a gif credit line before. I didn't know Gold went to that limit. I wonder why I didn't qualify for a Platinum.

If you want the Platinum, just call and tell them that you want to be upgraded so that you can use the beneifts. There should be no problem doing this. Just call the number on the back of the card and select the option to cancel (-4-). That will trasfer you to Membership Consulting Services. They'll set it all up for you.

    Congrats, phylisrn!

May I ask which Amex cards you were previously declined for? Assuming there were no substantial changes to your report over these 3 months, this could actually tell us something about the hierarchy of Amex cards' approval standards.

    Thanks,
    Saar
