applied a few months back and was approved for optima platinum and green card with one inquiry..

have not been able to get line increase told i have to wait to six month mark..

so i converted my optima plat to plat skymiles (cause skymiles is harder to get) then reapplied for the optima plat and whalah...

    approved.
no sure the Cl of apr but im sure its about 2000cl and 11.9 thats what they seem to give.

so i will combine with delta and get a line increase..

not quite the convential way for a BDD but this is interesting for those not able to get amex line increase..

Kustomkat, that's pretty cool. Hubby has Optima, too (about 1 year now). How simple is it to "convert" to skymiles? Did you just call them up and say "I want my Optima converted to Delta Skymiles"? Did they pull an inquiry when you converted?

    Inquiring minds want to know!

Keep it up, hubbies came off TU, we are working on the other two but of course they dont want to investigate again. Do you have any cc's now? He's got providian, cap one.....you know the usual ones after bk.

I am wondering what BDD is? I too want to know about the conversion. Also, how did you get the different scores? Were your scores as good when you applied?

Amy, i started with providian with 300cl now am at 4500, My credit union gave me a break to and gave me 5000 cl. They declined me at first with the bk & one collection. Came back with lower score (585) and told her i wanted a bt & she gave me a break first prime card. This took about six months all together. I like talking face to face.

    i've had 2 or 3 optima's. I think 2 skymiles and 1 skymiles business.

The trick is to apply for the platinum skymiles, use it once, convert it to a no fee "options" card, you can then finagle the 20K skymiles for the first time use of the platinum skymiles, and bail on the fee, plus if you're really smooth, get a new intro apr too lol

    works

Thanks for your reply but I am still unsure what BDD is. I had heard skymiles is harder to get? When you can could you or someone describe this a letter more? You say finagle...call amex and ask what?

skymiles is the easiest card to get from amex.

i got mine in the 650 range (no derogs).. Blue is by far the hardest to get your hands on.

I converted my optima plat to skymiles plat with no inquiry I just called and asked..

My experience has been a little different than sams in that the skymiles has been harder for me to get than the optima platinum...

Ive been denied numerous occasions for skymiles and now I have been approved twice for the optima plat...

my experian score when i first got the optima plat and green card were around 650.. now of course they are a bit higher...
