I recently spoke with a rep from the Best Value Department and he said that BVG will only be available to Gold and Platinum charge cardholders after next month. No more BVG on all Optima cards, including Starwood.

I guess I'll close my Optima Platinum card since I was mainly keeping it for this benefit. I can always use my Blue and Hilton cards.

basically: buy something, if the price is lower anywhere else (in print) they'll pay you the difference.

It's American Express' guarantee that you'll pay the lowest price for almost any product purchased on or offline. If after making a purchase, you find a lower advertised price in an ad or on a website you can mail or fax the info to the Best Value Dept. and they will mail you a check for the difference in price.

    Restrictions:

Price difference must be greater than $10

Policy doesn't apply if the place (where you purchased the item) already has an established price guarantee.

Only one claim allowed per person and must be made within 60 days.

This policy is great if you buy lots of electronics and computer equipment because these prices always go down. Beat me to it, sam.

    Steve,

Why not the Green Personal Card? $55 not enough to make it worthwhile? Amex must really be hurtin' for cash...

Don't just close your Optima Platinum card - call AMEX MORE so that they move the credit line to the Blue (or Hilton).

Also, the Optima Platinum APR can be re-priced to P+4%, which is currently less than 9% - not a bad deal.
