So many people here with high Blue APR, yet so few attempted to lower it... It's a toll-free #. The low rates are waiting. Just pick up the phone and ask for them Saar
I've only had AmEx Blue since August - ya think I need to wait 'til the account is 6 months old to ask for lower APR (and higher CL??)...?? Ozzy.
What difference does it make if your chance is low. If it costs nothing to find out, wouldn't you at least want to try? Saar
...and another one lowered (thanks for the post, Saar!). The lady on the phone was a riot, "and you would be calling to lower your rate?". I guess word gets around fast! I just repriced to 8.49 last month ... every little .50% helps! Now my Citi Plat and Amex Blue are my lowest "standard" rate cards @ 7.99. Discover, Chase, and Citi Illumina are still under a 0% promo through mid 2003, and B of A BTs are at 4.75%. Low rates are, as Martha would say, a "good thing." -mj
I was afraid to be rejected since the account is only a few months old and I'm still using my 0% promo. Well Saar was right - no harm in trying. I tried, she put me on hold and then told me that as of my February 2003 statement, I'd be at 7.99%! YAHOOOOOOOO!!! Thanks Saar for the gentle nudge! I needed that! Now I've got the following great rates: Am Ex Blue 7.99% fixed People's Bank 7.99% fixed Fleet 8.49% (but 0 'til June 2003) Citi.. well, I gotta start workin' on that.. it's at 12.63%, but I've got BT's @ 4.9% 'til March... Ozzy.
Ok so I tried and the girl told me 8.99% is the best they can offer me right now. Oh well. I guess I can live with that. I don't carry a balance anyway so I guess it doesn't matter too much <g>.
Great to hear about these successes. Just keep in mind: One (that's right, one) late payment would de-price your account to the default rate. Watch your due date like a hawk. I pay the minimum as soon as the cycle closes. Then, during the grace period, I make an additional payment for most / all of the balance. Saar
