Amex Blue AU Question

I'm new to the American Express world. I have a few questions about an AU on an Amex card compared to how it works on my other cards. For example, on MBNA an AU gets the same card number just with their name on it so everything gets charged to the same statement.

From what I understand an AMEX AU gets their own account number. Does this get charged to the same statement or would there be 2 statements? Also, in the future if I decide to remove an AU, how easy is it to do so?

    Thanks!

It is fairly easy to add an AU to your account, you can do it online or by phone, they just make sure the person you are adding does not have an outstanding debt with them.

The AU will get a different account number, you will still get just one statement for the account but on your statement the charges will be seperated for each card member by the account numbers.

The AU is reported, in my case, on TU only (?? go figure). The AU can sign-up to see only his/her info on the Amex site, they can't see the primary's charges or payments. Great for parent/college-kid things.

Removing the AU takes a phone call, signed statement (I've destroyed the card and accept full responsibility blah blah blah).

Amex is a little different than all other cards in one area, though... the AU accepts responsibility and agrees to pay for their charges in the event that the primary cardmember doesn't pay. With everyone else the primary is always fully liable.

    Thanks MJ,
Quick question for you. I do all my Blue statements online. You say that the AU can register to see their own charges. Will their charges automatically show up on my online statement and do I need to only make one payment to my card to cover charges for me and the AU?

The "Primary" sees all .. the AU sees only their charges. Either can make payments, and payments apply to the whole account.

I have a question here on au. I'm considering adding my son (will be 18 in Jan). Do they pull a credit report on aus? Thanks in advance.

    They shouldn't...

MOST banks only check "INTERNAL" records to make sure you didn't "STIFF" them...
