Just received my first CL increase on my Blue today. I have had the card 6 months. They even lowered my APR from 9.99 to 9.49. Yea, I know it is not much but hey I will take it. Especially after they gave me a 5000.00 increase on my CL. All this and they approved me for an Amex Optima Plat. It has been a very good day. They pulled Equifax for the Optima Plat. here in Texas.. score at the time was 750

If you don't mind... what was your initial credit line and your what kind of (if any) balance do you keep on the card?

    Thanks!

I usually keep 1000 on it for a month or 2 then I used it and fully paid it off. At the time of the increase the account was paid in full

    hope this helps

Congrats! I've been having great luck with Amex also. 2 weeks ago I got the Blue for Biz, and last week I got the credit limit on my Gold Delta Skymiles card doubled to $20,000. I will be calling tomorrow to get an increase on my Optima.

Congrats! I'm also waiting on my first increase (had it for about 3 months now @7.97%). I usually keep about $700 on there and then pay it off. Hopefully I don't have to ask them for an increase before I get it. I think I might have to though...

Congrats! I have been trying for three weeks now to get anyone in their customer service department to even look at my account to tell me why when I was told my APR would be 9.99% it turned out to be 12.99%. They may have the worst customer service in the history of credit card companies. I have even tried PFB only to be routed to their secure messaging only to be re-routed right back into the regular customer service deptartment. Pitiful.

I think you are better off asking for the increase. Reason is, when I called, they transferred me the bank. There they asked how much I wanted. I only asked for an additional $3,000. The rep said, "before I do this, I want to tell you that based on your income and excellent score, you do qualify for more. Would you like to ask for more?"
I said in that case, lets double it. 10 seconds later she said, "congrats, your new limit is $20,000 and it will be available immediately".

yeah amex is strange. I have over 90K in the 5 cards i have with them. I only asked for $2000 last time, because quite honestly, i don't want to push my luck.

when companies hand you nearly $100K in signature loans (cc) they are banking a bit on you eh?

So does that mean that they actually did have to pull an inquiry? Because if they are going by whats on file, my score back when I got the card, was 719.. now it's 735 (then again, I still have about 3 months to go before I can ask for an increase anyway.. so who knows what the "random number" would generate by then).

Re: Re: Re: Re: AMEX BLUE Credit Line Increase

I think that they go by past history with them, AR's that are pulled and income. The rep asked me how much I wanted then asked my income and then approved my request. I believe that your max credit line with amex is your yearly income from all sources multipled by .25 When the rep told me I was approved for the optima plat. he said that my Blue and Optima Plat combined CL's would not be over my yearly salary X .25

What number did you guys call to get your APR lower than 9.99%. I've called numerous times to get my APR lowered but all the CSRs say that I'm at the lowest available rate. What technique did you use to circumvent this?

    Thanks

    1-800-337-9555 REPRICING

    8.99% I HAVE NOW...WAS 12.99% THEN 9.99%

Last time I called I was told that my card number is NOT eligible...I ASKED IF IT COULD CHANCE NUMBERS SO I COULD GET A NUMBER THAT IS ELIGIBLE!!!

No inquiry. It was based on the score they get when they do the AR's, my income and inhouse credit with them.

    ...CHANGE THE NUMBER

NO WAS THE ANSWER...I CAN CHANGE THE CARD NUMBER...BUT THAT WON'T GIVE ME THE 7.99%

    I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH!?!?!?!?!
