I called them yesterday and tried to get my interest lowered from 12.99% fixed to 9.9% fixed. The guy said he could not do that. I will have that interest for the life of the card and if I wanted to get a lower interest rate I would have to reapply. - Sounds like the "unless your George factor" kicking in. I guess you'll have to change it to "unless your George or Betacredit factor."

He did submit my request for an increased credit line from $2k to $5K. He said it would probably go though and I could check Thurs. for sure. And they would use the credit report that they already have and not do another inquiry.

Why would you call MORE? They've got absolutely nothing to do with product conversions or APR.

You need to talk with a CS supervisor or an Executive Assistant.

Amex just blows, i refused to use their crappy product. They will not even come near to matching my citibank line nor interest rate. F'em. Their customer support is disperate and cannot properly communicate, they act as a bunch of seperate entities who cannot get their s**t together and communicate properly.

Some might have good luck with them, but i'm telling you they have falling to the depths of my card, hovering around the CRAP 1 and Household card on my chances of ever utilizing them..

There is no argument here, this is my experience, and i have both the business gold and Platinum cash rebate card. I won't use them, until they get their acts together.. end of rant.

I just called and they told me they denied the account increase because I do not have a large revolving credit line already.

I only have Crap 1 with $1500 limit. The rest are a bunch of low limit cards.

So I am stuck with $2000 credit line and an 11.9% or 12.9 interest rate. They said they review my account for a credit limit increase in 6 months. Oh well, at least I got the card.

Saar - How do I get in contact with those people CS supervisor or Executive Assistant? PFB or just calling the regular #?

Call 1-800-297-6197 to speak with an Executive Assistant.

The UYGF doesn't apply - even George was able to convert to the Blue 9.99% :)

As for their customer service, I find it AWESOME.

Saar, what is executive assistant? Do they have more power/flexibility? Will they raise my credit line?

Executive assistants are assistants to Amex Chairman or Amex President. They take your complaint and give you a reference #.

Just like you, they call the right dept. and ask to speak with a supervisor. But unlike you, they introduce themselves by saying: "Hello, this is XXX XXX calling from the office of the President, on his behalf".

I called. The guy was so unhelpful and rude it was not funny! He said what is your income, I told him. He said the only way he can justify increasing my credit line is if I had more income. That was it, he wouldn't budge and could not and would not do anymore. Except wait 6-9 months until you have some payment history.

He also said I have a 12.99% rate fixed. I thought it was 11.99%. Another thing that George says, "Amex Blue is a toy card". It's true. I'll just carry it in my purse for show and tell.

Now there is a new factor, "the betacredit - you don't have enough income to justify a higher credit line - factor."

I'm glad I got the card, but I won't be using it. $2k credit line with 12.99% fixed is not worth it. Discover, gave me a $3k cl with 0% apr until 4/03. After that is over, I'll use my BofA $4100 cl with a 11.99% fixed apr and BT with no BT fees.

Sorry about that. Just forget about him & call again.

    You're rate can't be 11.99%. They're only offering 9.99%, 10.99% 12.99% & 14.99% APR.

BTW, my experience has been much better lately. I also called them yesterday to discuss a problem. They did a GREAT job handling it & I was very pleased.

Every once in a while you get an anal rep. The best strategy is to hang up and try again. Worked for me. Also, I try not to bring up more than one issue per call, unless the rep is exceptionally cooperative.

thanks for the tips Saar but I'm just going to throw in the towel. I guess after awhile they will increase it. Yes, he was anal-retentive and I know that different people have different attitudes at a different times of the day on different days of the week.

It was Friday p.m. I don't know, I don't think I want to go through the process again. Maybe 3rd time lucky.
