Just got this offer in the mail for an Amex Blue card (not a current Amex user...and never in the past either). 0% APR for 6 months 6.99% Fixed APR no monthly Fee 5.99%F APR on initial balance xfers (then 6.99% Fixed for any BTs) is this worth it? I'm kinda drooling over the 6.99%F and no monthly fee, but don't really know if I'd even use the card because I'm the type to just pay off in full every month. (Plus I use the chase stockback card exclusively for the mutual fund rewards). I see a couple angles; 1) this low rate is insane and may be helpful for future purchases... ? 2) if interest rates rose, AMEX could easily change their account terms and raise rates back to 8.99% or 9.99% or whatever without any recourse. 3) im not even sure how amex reports to the CRAs --- any thoughts?
TAKE IT!!! I can't get that low with AMEX BLUE...I have 8.99%...some have 7.99%...when I call they always say your card does NOT qualify for 7.99%...or we don't have that rate... CAN I GET A DIFFERENT CARD NUMBER THAT WILL QUALIFY??? NO
I would Apply for it......I have Amex Blue 9.99% Product and I call and they say I cant have that APR, I would have to Apply for a new card....I do have 5.9% bt for LOB...no BT fee.... Others here have gotten 7.99% and 8.49% w/ease....i know if i call AGAIN , they will PULL HARD... Tony V. San Diego, Ca
I agree with the others... take the 6.99%. I doubt I'd get it, so I won't even bother to calling to ask for it
