I applied for an AMEX blue yesterday and was told that they couldnt give my decision over the phone, so, basically means I was declined. Well, they pulled my Equifax score, which, according to Privista is in the "Excellent" range. So, why in the world was I declined?? Are they that picky??
Yes they are the pickiest creditor alive. Too many Inquiries in past 6 months Too many new accounts balance to credit line ratio Less than 24 months on a tradeline I'd bet $50 its one of the above.
I'll have to see what there excuse is b/c I shouldnt have any of those on my account. It took me awhile, but all those are cleared up with EQ.
Whoa, slow down. Did you apply online? I applied online back in November 99 and got the same message as you. Thinking I was declined I waited for the letter via mail telling me why. It didn't come. So I called Amex's Application Department (I don't know the actual name) and she said they never received my application. So she took all my information via phone and two weeks letter I got my approval letter for a $2000 credit limit with Blue. I don't trust online applications, I haven't had one work yet. I would call the (800) # (I don't know it, but Saar does) and verify they received your application. Good luck and I hope everything works out. Dani
Ignore my previous post. I just noticed you applied via phone. (I have a habit of not reading all the information). You may be borderline and they may have an actual person look at your application to decide. I would wait for the letter and hope everything goes your way. Dani
