I just received an offer for the Blue card and I was wondering if I should apply. I am not sure if its pre-approved or not. It does have a R.S.V.P. # so I would assume its something like that. I have been reading that people should have a great FICO score before applying. I have never had or applied for any amex card. It just seems weird that I got this offer. Should I?
I actually have 4 or 5 cards in good standing. The reason my scores are so low is because of one collection. I sent them a validation letter last month and they still haven't got back to me yet. I know it probably would be an automatic denial just for that, but hey its only FICO points right. FICO doesn't run our world, do they?
Whats the difference between Blue and Blue Cash? The offer was for Blue Cash now that I think about it.
Not sure if the credit requirements are different, but I can tell you that AMEX Blue denied me with a score of 707 (I did have 4 hard inq's on there though). It was only after I brought my score up to 721 did I get the card.
I haven't tried for a few months since the last time. I'm not sure if I will. Haven't used Blue in a long time since I'm liking the cashback more
Amex Blue is the normal fixed rate card with Membership Rewards. Amex Blue Cash is a variable rate card that basically replaces the Amex Cash Rebate card and earns you cash back rather than reward points. I already had Blue and then I got the cash rebate about 6 months ago. I just found out about Blue Cash and I like how Blue and Blue Cash look compared to the boring cash rebate card so I decided to apply and open one of those <g>. Of course a side benefit is that my 0% is almost up on the Cash Rebate and now I get 6 months of 0% on Blue Cash so all is good. I'll be combining my Cash Rebate credit line into the Blue Cash card in the near future.
I was wondering does the computer at AMEX decide by your FICO if you are approved or is it someone actually reviewing your application?
