Denied b/c of high credit/balance ratio should I ask them to reconsider. NO negs on reports last time i check scores were 625-675. Anybody have any luck?
You can try contacting their MORE team (a search of this board should get you the phone #). The Blue card usually requires a FICO of 680 and up, but it depends on the rest of your criteria. They like accounts with usage at (or around) 25% and for your oldest account to be more than 2 years old. As long as you don't have any lates or collections on your reports it wouldn't hurt to give them a call and ask them to repeal their decision. Good luck. Dani
Hi Lonergr66, If you are willing to risk another inquiry, apply for the Green card (minimum 650 and IMO easier approval) - and if you are approved, call the MORE team directly - ask specifically for a supervisor - and make your case as to why you should have the Blue. (i.e. say "my scores are high enough or nearly high enough for a 680 approval, I have no negatives, a decent income, and I really want a revolving card from AmEx", etc...). I think your case is helped if you're able to show that you are a current cardholder with the Green. As far as income, AmEx had me listed at $30K when approved, though that is inaccurate. If you don't want to apply for the Green, you can still call the MORE Team to ask for reconsideration on the Blue, or call 1-800-thecard, press "2" to hear the account you were denied for and press "2" again to speak with a CSR who can forward your app to a supervisor for reconsideration. To conclude my own story, told in the link below, I called the MORE Team the day I was initially declined, and found out by calling 1-800-thecard that I was approved the next day for $2000. That same day, I called New Accounts Customer Service to ask for a CL increase to $9000. They approved me 48 hours later for $5000. The direct line to the MORE Team is found in this thread: http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&postid=113852#post113852 I hope it works for you,
Normally the MORE team can only assist applicants who are EXISTING cardmembers. But you can still talk to ordinary New Accounts reps. Saar
