Just requested and got a $2500 increase. It's my first large AMEX limit increase in 2 years!!! CL is now $5,000. Did this through Centurion Bank. I think it's much better to request CL increases this way rather than through the website. Does anyone know if AMEX will only grant increases in 6 month intervals ? I'm looking to increase my Optima Platinum limit to $5,000 as well (currently $3,000).
they are very strict about the 6 month period. But an increase on one account does not affect the 6 month period on a different account. Congrats on the increase.
I totally agree with Steve. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind. Be careful of when you call. If you call out side of the "banks" business hours you will be told it could take of to 10 days for a reponse. If you call when the bank is open, you should get transferred to someone at the bank and get an instant response and possibly also asked if you want your "cash advance" limit raised as well. When talking to them at length I found that they will give limits based on pass history alone or will do it based on a credit report pull. Your salary is definately a factor and it can be done every 6 months. I hope this information helps and I hope it is all accurate. You can never be too sure what someone says over the phone is true.
** I see THE OTHER already addressed this above** Hey Steve, One thing I am not sure on is if you can request credit limit increases every 6 months "per card" or "per person". I forgot to address that above.
