I still can't get them to lower the 12.99% rate to 9.99%...ALL I SEE ON THE APPLICATION PAGE IS 9.99%!!! HE SAID APPLY FOR A SECOND CARD...MAYBE YOU MIGHT GET THE 9.99%... STILL CAN'T GET CREDIT LIMIT INCREASE!!! Said call MONDAY...too late in the day. HE said it's EXPERIAN'S problem with my son as my SPOUSE...
Hey George - The 9.9% - was it on an advertisement sent to you personally?? If so then there should be a source code, maybe then American Express will match the rate...At least thats what we did at FUSA. Just curious - do you know what they look for when applying for a blue card? I'm at 638 (Equifax) and was going to keep payments going for another 6 months and then try for the card. Been a good boy for 2 years and just got approved for a $5200 consolidation loan this week so I'm hoping that 6 more "good boy" months will be put me in Amer Express range... GT
You can do it. I did. Tell them you won't hang up until they put in a request for a lower APR. A simple task, yet so many find it difficult to carry out. Then call to verify there's indeed a request pending. Don't take ANY excuses. Don't hang up unless & until they confirm a request was entered. Sometimes you just need to play hardball (stubborn but not nasty) Whether or not your request is granted is up to Card Services, but at least you'd know your request gets the attention it deserves. I CALLED M.C.S. the transferred me back to CUSTOMER SERVICE... M.O.R.E. didn't help either, months ago!!!
MORE can't change it. MCS sometimes can, but usually won't. Customer Service is who you turn to. They can put in a request for you, your job is to make sure they do it. Once they put in a request, it will be reviewed by Account Services. If you've made 1 phone call for every time you complain here, you'd have had the 9.9% for one year now. Don't look for any more reasons not to make that phone call. And don't keep re-living your denials. Just ACT! Saar
