I'm thinking of appying for AMEX BLUE. I own a business my scores scores are in the upper 600's mybe even a 700+ in EQUIFAX.

Does anybody know what CRA this card uses and what criteria this card requires.

    TIA

I live in NY and they pulled Experian here. I think they generally like Experian since that bureau seems to have the most up-to-date info. of all three, at least in my experience.

    HEY WIKITA!!! Oh, wait...williboa...

    Anyhoo,

I have blue. Had 696 at the time, no baddies, 3 accounts that were 2+ years old (but not over 3 yrs)
and 20+ inqs. Approved instantly for only 2k.

Gold was approved same time as blue...not sure what hidden cl is.

Biz was approved a month later at 5k...had 2 or 3 inqs and a 728 score.

Costco rebate approved...not sure of cl, 2 inqs and a score in upper 600's I think. (refuse to check it until someone fixes what they reported!)

    Here's a question.

    My Experian is perfect.

But my credit history is very short (2 accounts at 6 mos.).

However, I do have a 30 month old AU account reporting ($6000 limit and $1000 balance) and I can add another 48 month AU account is I want.

Think there is any chance that these AU accounts would satisfy the Amex requirements re: 2 years of reporting so that I could get an instant decision?

    OK. I have no patience...

Just went and applied for an Amex card. I didn't want to press my luck so I applied for the standard Amex Green Rewards card.

    The pulled Experian.

My experian is very thin and currently shows only these tradelines:

A Visa with a $2000 limit, $598 balance, and 5 months of history.

    A 2nd Visa with a $350 limit, $135 balance and 5 months of history.

A 3rd Visa with a $1000 limit, $0 balance and 1 month of history (just reported today).

A Macy's card with a $76 limit (high balance reporting as credit limit), $76 balance and 1 month of history.

An Authorized User Visa with a $6000 limit, $1174 balance, and 30 months of history.

4 inquiries in the last 6 months.

I have no idea what my Fico is (myfico.com sucks and I can't get verified). I'm assuming it is in the 650-700 range based on my other CRA Ficos.

    My instant response from Amex?.....

"Congratulations, your application is approved! You will receive your new card within a few weeks."

    Holy cr*p!

I'm guessing the AU account fooled them as I was fully prepared for the big denial.

Now my quandry... What I would really like is the Amex gold card. I just didn't have the cojones to apply for it.

Dare I call Amex and ask for an upgrade right away? Or is there a risk that they would see their folly and cancel my green card approval?

You should be fine as far as getting your approval reversed. Worse case is they tell you that you have to wait to get gold.

    Go for it.

I applied for Blue and gold the same day...they only pulled 1 inq and approved both. Actually, I applied for delta gold biz, but they denied that one and counter offered the gold.

    Congrats on the approval!

PS something I noticed w/ amex is that if you dont qualify for the card you applied for, they will sometimes make a counteroffer instead.

    OK.

Called new accounts and the very nice lady told me that I couldn't upgrade. That I would have to make a new application and "Would I like to do that over the phone?".

    Ummm... No.

But, thinking they probably wouldn't hit me with another inquiry, I applied for the Gold Rewards card online.

    Approved again!

Now I have both the green and the gold rewards cards on their way.

Never thought I'd see the day!

My scores are comming up. I have a mortgage, I feel behind but now catching up. I never want to use my credit anymore after my experience with CITIBANK, but I've realized that having good credit makes life a lot easier, especially if you have a business, less cash flow pressure.

So, with that said, my scores are in the upper 600 and EX low 700, BUT, I have a 6 yr old judgement for $3,000: Not settled. Every thing else is positive except for some 30 days back in 11/2002, 10/2002.

Are any of these guys going to approve me or is that judgement the kiss of death???

What do you guys think, am I wasting my time applying for credit with this judgement: I got approved for 2 toy cards, but they just slow my scores down: lower my average credit history.

... So, is the judgement the kiss of death, I've tried shaking it off my CR by disupting, no GO!!!

    Hmmm...

I'm not the expert here but with an EX score of low 700 you should be able to get something done.

Have you checked the whopulledmycredit yahoo group?

6 years is a long time ago for the judgement and I've read lots of posts with people getting approved with negs that old.
