AFTER LIKE 6 MONTHS I FINALLY CAN DO A BT (IT WAS ALWAYS UNDER CONSTRUCTION)...BUT LOOK AT WHAT IT SAYS (BLUE & DELTA GOLD)----->We may charge your account a transaction fee for each balance transfer you initiate for which a promotional term has expired. This fee will be 3.00% of each amount transferred with a minimum of $5 and a maximum of $50.

George, that sux! But I've got a better one.

The logic of AmEx. DH has an Optima Plat cc with them, didn't use it for a long time. Called to check on status. AmEx said that status is ok. DH asked for a replacement card. They said no problem. DH asked for a balance transfer (from Chase Visa %22.99 to Optima %9.99). They said okay.

3 weeks later DH gets a letter in mail denying his BT because of derog on EXP. One day after that the replacement card arrives. DH activates it. DH uses it. DH buys a new laptop using it.

AmEx wouldn't do a $1300 BT to a card with $8000 cr line, but they did send him a new card and let him charge a $3000 laptop on it.

Did the APR on Optima move one inch from the old %9.99 because of the derog? Nope.

Go figure. I'm not complaining, just wondering...

With Amex, it depends on the particular offer.

    Some have fees some don't.
